Wikki Stix

Extremely versatile and endlessly reusable, Wikki Stix are made of a non-toxic wax formula in a yarn strand. They are soft and pliable and very easy to bend and shape. Plus, they are slightly tacky to the touch and adhere to almost any smooth surface with just fingertip pressure to provide a raised line effect - no glue, no paste, and no mess! Wikki Stix are also easy to lift off and reposition, so mistakes can be quickly corrected. They do not break or tear apart, but can be cut easily with scissors. They will not melt or stain. Original packages of Wikki Stix come in primary colors plus black and white (TC1005) or in six hot neon colors (TC1006). Each package contains 48 Wikki Stix in the 8-inch length, plus illustrations and play ideas on the back of the package. They are perfect for home, school, playtime, and more.
There are many great ways in which Wikki Stix can be used:
1. Practice prewriting strokes, as well as to practice letter formation. They can also be used to trace prewriting shapes, which is especially good on laminated paper so it can be used repeatedly.
2. Improve hand grasp and stability by wrapping 1/2 of a Wikki around the base of a pencil. This also acts as a good reminder for children to hold it "down low".
3. Create letters and numbers for the student to run his/her fingers over for tactile input.
4. Make borders when handwriting and to keep letters on the line, as well as to indicate where to start and stop on the paper. They can also be used to create boxes for each of the individual letters of a word.
