We have a new Featured Parent to introduce you to!

Fun and Function: Who are you and your kids?

Adrena Luster: I'm Adrena Luster, and my child is Qualin, 2 1/2 yrs old.

FF: What is the nature of their special needs?

AL: Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome and ADHD.

FF: What would you say is your biggest challenge in raising a child with special needs?

AL: Juggling daily life and equally sharing your attention with your other children.

FF: What would you say is your greatest joy in raising your children?

AL: Every day I learn something new. There's never a dull moment.

FF: What would you say has been the biggest help you in raising your kids?

AL: ECI's grant to help pay for childcare so I can have some "me" time, as well as my child's speech therapist.

FF: Give us one tool you would hate to live without.

AL: My child's safety leash. I wouldn't dare enter a mall or busy event without it.

FF: If you could give one piece of advice to another parent who's child has just been diagnosed, what would it be?

AL: Treat your child like he/she does not have a disability and stay positive about the situation.

FF: And finally, an addition to our interview series, how do you help your kids make it through summer?

AL: Keep them busy and happy :)

Adrena, thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us and all the readers here at Fun and Function.
