Special Needs Out and About: Family Friendly Shows

The Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus is a show that features acrobats, clowns, jugglers, trained animals, trapeze acts, tightrope walkers and more. The show has been around since the early 1900s and travels all across the country. The show has been attended by so many families throughout the years and provides a ton of entertainment. Some locations lately have hosted sensory friendly nights for those who want an up close and personal sensory friendly show for children. When the circus comes into town, check and see if they are offering a sensory friendly performance during their tour.

Disney on Ice is a series of touring ice shows that brings children’s favorite Disney characters to life. Each year a different show is created and families love to bring their kids to see a live version of their favorite movies and character performances. The Disney on Ice show has hosted some sensory friendly shows throughout their tours which allow children to get photos with their favorite characters, get a pre-show behind the scenes presentation, have the show go in a running order so the kids can anticipate any loud noises or special affects and have a quiet room if kids need to get away. When Disney on Ice comes into town, check with your local ticket office to see if they will be hosting a sensory friendly show.
